Mokra Gora is a village in the western part of Municipality of Užice, between southeast slopes of Tara and northwest slopes of Zlatibor Mountain, in Mokra Gora - Rzav valley. Today, the beauties of Mokra Gora, natural resources of forests and rivers, represent considerable tourist potential promoted significantly through film “Life is a Miracle” by world famous film director Emir Kusturica. Acknowledging its growth potential for the region, HELP has launched a pilot project tourism development in rural areas in Mokra Gora.

Within the pilot project in Mokra Gora, which is a component of the project “Poverty reduction through support to start-up businesses and socio-economic integration of refugees and IDPs”, 5 beneficiaries will be supported in construction and improving the quality of the tourist capacities and service. With the average grant of 4000 EUR, HELP will finance the adaptation and construction of 5 log cabins which will be turned into tourist accommodation but still will preserve their authenticity. The beneficiaries will additionally attend necessary trainings which will enable them to offer a high level of tourist and accommodation service to future guests.

The construction works currently in progress for 3 houses. The end of July is foreseen for the construction works of 2 remaining houses…

The highway Belgrade - Sarajevo passes through Mokra Gora, which enables connecting of Mokra Gora as a tourist resource well. There are several buses of public conveyance from Užice daily, and there are numerous other busses routes passing through Mokra Gora, because the bus touring to Višegrad and Bosnia.

July 2006

In cooperation with MAGMA FILM- Film production and distribution company- a short documentary on success stories of HELP clients as well as many other HELP activities, is being filmed. Documentary filming, which lasted for several days, was completed in July whereas the documentary itself has been planned for the mid August. MAGMA FILM and HELP visited several municipalities where HELP has implemented its activities- Sremska Mitrovica, Kikinda, Kragujevac, Aleksinac, Nis and Mokra Gora and recorded various life stories of the clients who managed to implement their business ideas and significantly improve their living standards thanks to HELP donation.

On 15th July 2006 humanitarian organization HELP celebrates its 25th anniversary. Today, HELP acts as a humanitarian organization worldwide. HELP successfully assists people in need and our humanitarian assistance has grown, during years, into long-term development projects. We help people to help themselves secure their own livelihood and create perspective for a better future.
