Mokra Gora

The promotion of five reconstructed traditional log cabins in Mokra Gora, Municipality of Uzice was held at the beginning of October. The log cabins were adapted for the tourist accommodation capacities growth in this area.

Adaptation of five log cabins was enabled by the German humanitarian organization HELP in the form of a pilot project “Poverty reduction through support to tourism development in rural areas” within the programme “Poverty reduction through support to start-up businesses”. The pilot project was financed by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). The total investment amounts to 35.940 Euros, out of which SDC has financed 62%, while the rest was financed by the clients themselves.

Within this pilot project, five entrepreneurs were supported with average donation value of 4.400 Euros in the form of material/equipment needed for the adaptation of traditional log cabins in order to increase tourist accommodation capacities in Mokra Gora.

Along with five supported clients, another six entrepreneurs dealing with rural tourism received a training with the aim to improve vocational and business skills thus securing provision of high quality tourism services in Mokra Gora. HELP has organized the training in cooperation with the local development partner Regional Center for SME and Entrepreneurship Zlatibor d.o.o. Uzice,

Due to the successful cooperation with the donors, Tourist association of Mokra Gora, Regional Center for SME’s Zlatibor and with the local self government, HELP has realized this pilot project to the highest satisfaction of all stakeholders. Tourist accommodation capacities are increased for 12 beds more.
