Smederevo signed cooperation agreement on poverty reduction

The cooperation agreement within project “Poverty reduction and employment opportunities enhancement of marginalised and vulnerable population groups in Serbia” between Help and Smederevo is a fifth cooperation cycle on poverty reduction and employment opportunities enhancement.

The project will last until the end of December 2014 and will focus on opening new jobs providing paid internship for beneficiaries and support in establishment of four cooperatives, provision of business and vocational trainings as well as labor theme workshops and networking.

Within the project the support will be given to those leaving collective camp for refugees and internally displaced persons in Radinac. They will be invited to apply for a six-month paid internship in order to gain necessary knowledge and skills for independent running of different businesses. Besides, the support will be provided for establishment of four cooperatives and enable employment of local socially vulnerable population.

The project is financed by the German Government and the value of a part to be implemented in Smederevo amounts to 122.300,00 EUR is co-financed by the City of Smederevo with 31.700,00 EUR.

This activity will enable employment of socially vulnerable population and development of micro businesses in crafts, services and agriculture.
Since the beginning of cooperation between Help and Smederevo in 2007, Help has enabled 155 families with in-kind grants and provided durable housing solutions for 71 families with 47 prefabricated houses and 24 in construction material. The City provided the infrastructure for prefabricated houses.

The cooperation agreement was signed by the Mayor Dr. Jasna Avramovic and Help Regional Coordinator Klaus Mock.
