Research of economic and social assessment of informal waste collectors in Serbia

Within the project Poverty reduction through employment opportunities for Serbia’s EU accession implemented by Help with the support of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency Sida, the Centre for social and applied research of the Faculty for the Political Science University of Belgrade conducted a research Economic and social assessment of informal waste collectors in Serbia.

The research has been conducted in the period October 2017 – January 2018 to identify the problems of Roma population in the employment process from the perspective of waste collectors, employers and stakeholders as the part of the integrative policy systemic environment. The research also presents the control tool for the evaluation of the implemented activities and informed decision making in the pipeline of targeting and defining future actions and methods to support the waste collectors and waste management in Serbia, having in mind the employment possibilities creation for the vulnerable population groups.

The project Poverty reduction through employment opportunities for Serbia’s EU accession is implemented by the German organization Help – Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe and financed by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency Sida. The 2.055.514,50 EUR worth project Help is implementing from October 2017 until September 2020 in 19 cities and municipalities in Serbia.
