Free online training for digital skills

Within Microsoft Global Skills Initiative Semos Education Serbia provides the four most wanted IT jobs.

Thanks to the partnership with Help within the RECONOMY programme, which aims to improve employment opportunities for young people, women and other unemployed, balancing the labour market demand and supply, inclusively and sustainably, Semos Education Serbia has since expanded its training offer for individual learning and advance of new jobs within the IT and BPO industry.

Thus Semos Education Serbia, as a Microsoft partner, joined the Microsoft Global Skills Initiative so that people around the world, including 5000 people in Serbia, could acquire digital skills necessary in the COVID-19 economy.

The initiative is primarily intended for students, unemployed people, as well as people who lost their jobs due to the pandemic. Adapting to changes in the job place and introducing new technologies, which companies were forced to do in the new circumstances, was most difficult for people with lower formal education, young people, women, minorities and other vulnerable groups, which further increased their marginalisation.

Hence, better access to the digital skills needed for new jobs is offered through GSI’s identified ten skills-based training for specific jobs and three basic skills training.

And the Semos Education Serbia, within this initiative, offers citizens of Serbia mentoring workshops, free training and certification and supports four of the ten jobs identified as the most anticipated in the labour market, namely: Software Developer, Data Analyst, IT Administrator and AI Practitioner.

The whole process develops in four stages, starting with the orientation workshops organised by Semos Education Serbia, through self-study with the assistance of free Microsoft Learn, LinkedIn Learning and GitHub resources, free mentoring workshops organised by Semos Education, to also free Microsoft training (AZ900/AI900/DP900) held by certified Semos Education instructors.

The application deadline is 1 September, and the programme begins on 13 September. All those interested can get detailed information and apply through the website gsi.algoritam.org

This initiative is supported by the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veterans and Social Affairs and the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia with which Semos Education Serbia has signed a Cooperation Agreement.

Semos Education is supported by Help within the RECONOMY programme of the Swedish Development Agency Sida, implemented by HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation, in cooperation with partners from 12 countries in Eastern Europe, the South Caucasus and the Western Balkans. HELVETAS’s executive partner for the RECONOMY programme in the Western Balkans is the German non-governmental organisation Help – Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe through its regional offices in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia.
