Donation of protective masks to users of soup kitchens of the Serbian Red Cross
With the support of the Federal Republic of Germany, Help donated 75,400 protective masks for the realization of the Serbian Red Cross’ National Kitchen Program and Belgrade Red Cross volunteers.
In the presence of the ambassador Thomas Schieb, Help delivered 75,400 protective masks in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, within the German Development Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Germany.
Two thousand protective masks are intended for Belgrade Red Cross volunteers, while 73,400 for users of the Serbian Red Cross’ National Kitchen Program. This donation ensures uninterrupted and continuous work of volunteers, as well as the continuation of the application of protection measures for users of soup kitchens throughout Serbia.
Prof. Dr Dragan Radovanovic, President of the Serbian Red Cross, acknowledged the Republic of Germany and the organisation Help’ continuous support and cooperation with the Serbian Red Cross and its humanitarian programs.
“Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Serbian Red Cross has provided all the necessary protection measures to the users of the National Kitchen Program. This donation will enable the users of the National Kitchen Program to have their cooked meals in a health-safe way.”
Help provides development assistance and acts in times of crisis around the world, said Aleksandra Brkić, Director of Help in Serbia.
“The coronavirus and COVID-19 pandemic have affected all people in the world, regardless of skin colour and social status. Our mission is to help exactly where it is needed, and the users of soup kitchens make up a sensitive group of our fellow citizens.”
Dr Vesna Libek, President of the Belgrade Red Cross, emphasized: "Red Cross volunteers are always at the forefront of humanitarian programs. This was especially seen during the activities to combat the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, and on this occasion, we would like to thank them and express our respect for the huge contribution they have made through their voluntary work in their local communities and throughout the Republic of Serbia."
The procurement of protective masks worth 40,000 euros was provided through Help's project "Support to Socio-Economic Stability in the Western Balkans 2019-2020", funded by the Federal Republic of Germany within the framework of German development cooperation.
