Tablets with internet connection and school supplies

Delivery of tablets with the Internet connection and school supplies for children of socially vulnerable families in Serbia as support in a pandemic.

In response to the crisis caused by the COVID19 pandemics in Serbia, especially among vulnerable categories, Help responded from the beginning to the urgent needs of the population. Under the measures and recommendations of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the containment of the spread of the COVID19 we managed to organise and deliver the priority assistance to vulnerable groups.

With limited movement and the limited options to engage in seasonal work, this year is particularly difficult for the Roma national minority, who live off the waste collection, seasonal work and social assistance, but also other vulnerable categories. In circumstances when it is necessary to preserve the health, and possibility of earning for a living has significantly decreased, the beginning of the school year, even with online classes, presents a burden for family budgets.

In cooperation with the local partner SKRUG-League of Roma and the indispensable support of donor through German Development Cooperation, school supplies were provided to 1035 children aged 7 to 18, in more than 30 cities and municipalities in Serbia.

In addition to school supplies, 1000 sets of protective masks and disinfectants were donated to schoolchildren.

In the environment of changed communication and the need for alternative channels, 375 more children in Serbia received tablet devices with internet paid for the next year. These devices will make it easier for them to follow online classes and the communication necessary to maintain a certain level of social contacts.
